The “Sankofa” is a symbol used by the Akan people of Ghana, to express the importance of reaching back to knowledge gained in the past and bring it into the present. I incorporate traditional care bestowed on me by my beloved Ghanaian mother-n-law Yaa Fremah and southern grandmother, labor and delivery nurse Ruth Wilson.

EMPOWER | ENCOURAGE | SUPPORT

The path to birth is a winding one. As your doula I provide nonjudgmental professional birth support so you know all of your options in order to confidently make informed decisions about your care. I am here to advocate for and support the decisions you choose for your pregnancy and childbirth. Rather you’re having a VBAC, medicated, un-medicated, vaginal, or cesarean birth at a hospital, birth center, or home my role is to offer unwavering mental, emotional, and physical care.

With unlimited text, phone and email support, you have a personal google at your fingertips. Together we will work through past traumas, fears, or worries surrounding childbirth and parenthood. I am here for you, helping you tap into your inner self while making space for your voice to be heard by providers. For birth I know just the right pressure points, and positions to ease your contractions. I also know how to get birth partners involved in the process as well. My role extends into the immediate postpartum period (first 6 weeks) to ensure you have an anchor during this vulnerable time of recovery and transition. Incorporating all the traditional care I learned while living in Ghana, West Africa for 2.5 years I aim to honor and nurture you with holistic care.
